Funkmaster Flex first started the record pool back in 1996 under the name Big Dawg Record Pool alongside longtime friend Mike "Mr Excitement" Jacob. He later formed a marketing company known as Franchise Marketing and later changed the name of the pool to Franchise Record Pool. The success of the pool was realized when they maxed out their membership and acquired a huge waiting list only after three days of marketing. His DJ roster was impressive consisting of big dawgs from DJ Cool Herc to Wesley Snipes (yes Wesley Snipes....DJing was a longtime hobby of his, doing parties for his fellow actor buddies in hollywood).
